Nara (奈良市) is the capital city of Nara Prefecture in the Kansai region of Japan. It is one of the main tourist attractions comparable in historical value to Kyoto.

Tōdai-ji, is a Buddhist temple and the largest wooden building in the world, which houses the world’s largest bronze statue of the Buddha Vairocana, known in Japanese simply as Daibutsu.




Agyō, one of the two Niō guardians at the Nandai-mon in front of the Todai ji in Nara.

These are some of the finest wooden sculptures in Japan from the 13th century carved by Unkei in 1203.
